Why do people give such bad romantic advice? Like ';be yourself'; and ';don't be shy'; to people who are shy?

they dont have a decent answer, but still want to help.Why do people give such bad romantic advice? Like ';be yourself'; and ';don't be shy'; to people who are shy?
Because maybe them being shy is the problem thats why they r telling them not to be shy
